Our Mission

Our Mission is to be a caring presence to the students and faculty in downtown colleges and universities. This is accomplished through service and programs that enhance the quality of life and answer the call of the Gospel to make life sacred for all people.

Our Colleges

The Downtowners, Inc. is an interfaith campus ministry available to over 35,000 students attending the six downtown colleges and universities: Capital Law School, Columbus College of Art and Design, Columbus State Community College, DeVry Institute of Technology, Franklin University and Mount Carmel College of Nursing.

Our Concern

The Downtowners was founded in 1973 out of the concern of the congregation of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Downtown Area Church Council to serve the spiritual, educational and social needs of the urban student. Today, the Downtowners represents over a dozen dioceses and judicatories in providing valuable assistance to the students through counseling, education and community outreach programs.

Our Direction

After 50 years, the Downtowners continues to expand its ministry to serve the needs of the downtown student, building for the future by providing support in the development of responsible citizens who are able to make a contribution to their community.
